Tennessee State Veterans Homes
Tennessee operates five State Veterans Homes for eligible Tennessee veterans, providing long-term skilled nursing care at favorable rates compared to private-pay nursing facilities. Eligible residents pay based on income; TennCare (Medicaid) may cover the balance for qualifying residents.

Who qualifies
Eligibility requires an honorable or general discharge, service meeting federal Veterans Home criteria, Tennessee residency, and a clinical need for nursing-level care. The spouse or Gold Star parent of a qualifying veteran may also be eligible in some cases.
Services provided
24-hour skilled nursing, memory care (dementia units), social services, recreational therapy, chaplaincy, physical and occupational therapy, and hospice coordination. Facilities are licensed by TDH and follow CMS certification standards.
